Michigan Public reports Nessel’s challenge to Google data-center electricity contracts

Michigan Public reports that Attorney General Dana Nessel petitioned for rehearing of the MPSC’s approval of a 20-year DTE electricity-service contract for Google’s Van Buren Township data center. Nessel argues that contract-wide cost accounting can allow subsidies in individual years and seeks annual reconciliation. The report also cites the commission’s position that the agreement protects other DTE customers from costs; the MPSC declined comment on the petition and Google did not respond. The report does not establish that rehearing was granted or the approval reversed.[1]
